Flipper - Album Generic (1982)
US reissue on Subterranean Records, 1986
The year I got into Flipper. My highschool buddies only tolerated “Sex Bomb” because it was funny and weird.
But I was and remain a big fan of this band. They were the essence of punk rock imho. And the way their songs emphasize the bass and utilize repetition is truly unique and mesmerizing.

Preface: unlike English where "you" forms can be used both to address people familiarly and respectfully, languages such as Polish or German use distinct forms for that. Direct "you" forms ("ty", "du") are used to address familiarly, while strangers are to be respectfully addressed by their title ("pan/pani/…") in Polish, or via "Sie" in German.
Since I was a little boy, hierarchy was hammered into my head. The children are supposed to address adults respectfully, as "Mr./Mrs." The adults talk to children familiarly, using "you" forms.
Then, in the middle school, we were taught to address our teachers as "professors" (which is used to indicate the scientific title in Polish, which they didn't have). That said, it was a custom specific to a few schools, perhaps historical in origin.
At the university, we were expected to address people according to their actual scientific titles. In return, we ourselves finally started to be addressed as "Mr./Mrs."
And then I went to my first free software meeting, and it came as a cultural shock to me. Suddenly, I was surrounded by people who addressed one another familiarly, irrespectively of their age differences.
And it wasn't a lack of respect. It all about abandoning that vicious circle where every generation successively is bullied and then becomes a bully, just to have a taste of being on the other side, finally.
By the way, my parents taught me to address themselves familiarly, through "you". I haven't had to use the earlier forms of explicitly saying "would mom…?" like it was customary earlier. On the other hand, it was unthinkable for my generation to address their parents by their first name.
